NSE market calendar 2027: not published yet
In short
Source: NSE Capital Market circular NSE/CMTR/71775 (12 Dec 2025), with addendum NSE/CMTR/72260 (12 Jan 2026). Last checked on 2026-09-07.
There is no 2027 NSE trading-holiday circular available yet, so no sourced 2027 dates. It explains how the exchange releases its calendar instead, using the 2026 calendar as the example. The 2027 dates will appear on this page once the circular is published.
Where 2027 stands
What is known about the 2027 calendar so far.
One year is an example, not a schedule. The 2026 list came as NSE/CMTR/71775, dated 12 Dec 2025, about 20 days before 2026 began. If the exchange keeps the same timing, the 2027 list may come around December 2026. The exchange does not promise a date. It can publish earlier or later. It can also change the list afterwards, as it did for 2026 with NSE/CMTR/72260.
What is already certain about 2027
Four things about 2027 that hold without a circular — and the exact point at which each one stops holding.
Weekends: 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays
2027 has 104 weekend days and 261 weekdays. Whatever the circular eventually says, each closure it announces falls in one of two places. A closure on one of those 261 weekdays removes a session. A closure on a weekend removes nothing. Even this is a default rather than a law. The exchange has published live weekend sessions, and NSE/CMTR/72349 covered the sunday session on Sun, 1 Feb, 2026. The weekend is closed because the exchange says so each year, not because Saturday is Saturday.
The list is a lookup, because it is not one calendar
A holiday list looks like the kind of thing you ought to be able to work out. It is not. The occasions on it are set by several different calendar systems at once. Some are fixed Gregorian dates, landing on the same date every year and shifting only their weekday. Some are festivals set by the Hindu lunisolar calendar, which move within a band of several weeks against the Gregorian year. Some are set by the Islamic lunar calendar. Its twelve months run roughly 354 days. That is about eleven days shorter than a Gregorian year, so those occasions drift earlier each year. Others again are moveable feasts worked out by rules of their own. One list, several clocks that do not agree.
Then an input arrives that no calendar contains at all. The exchange decides which of those occasions it observes. It can also add closures for events. The 2026 list gained one that way — Municipal Corporation General Elections on Thu, 15 Jan, 2026, added by NSE/CMTR/72260, 3 days before the day itself. No festival calendar anticipates a civic event. Between them, those inputs are the whole reason an exchange holiday calendar is a document you look up rather than a rule you apply.
A holiday on a weekend is listed separately — and it is not a bonus day
The exchange publishes weekend-dated occasions apart from the trading holidays, because they take no session away. In 2026 there are 4 of them next to 16 weekday closures. This is why two sources that are both right can give two different holiday counts for the same year. One is counting sessions lost. The other is counting occasions listed. When the 2027 circular is out, this page keeps the two apart the same way.
Trading holidays and settlement holidays are different documents
The trading calendar says which days have no session. It does not say when a trade settles. That is the clearing corporation's own calendar. A closure can push a settlement date without changing a trading day. In 2026, NCL/CMPT/72278 moved the T+1 settlement of Wed, 14 Jan, 2026 out to Fri, 16 Jan, 2026 — 15 Jan 2026 became a trading and settlement holiday, so trades from 14 Jan settle on 16 Jan. So a 2027 trading-holiday circular, on its own, will still not be the last word on settlement dates.
How the NSE calendar is published — 5 documents, not one
"Is the 2027 calendar out yet?" has no simple yes-or-no answer, because the calendar is not one document. These are the 5 kinds of document that make up one year. Each row has a real example from 2026.
| Document | What it settles | When it appears | 2026 example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual trading-holiday circular | The year's weekday closures, plus the holidays that land on a Saturday or Sunday. | Ahead of the year it covers — the one cycle held here was dated 12 Dec 2025, 20 days before that year began. | NSE/CMTR/71775 (12 Dec 2025) — 15 of the 16 weekday closures in 2026, and the 4 weekend-dated occasions. |
| Addendum to the annual circular | Adds a closure, or moves one, after the annual list is already out. | Any time in the year — this one arrived 3 days before the day it closed. | NSE/CMTR/72260 (12 Jan 2026) — added Municipal Corporation General Elections, Thu, 15 Jan, 2026. |
| Special-session circular | A session held outside the normal Monday-to-Friday pattern, with its own hours. | Close to the date, and independent of the annual list. | NSE/CMTR/72349 — Sunday Sun, 1 Feb, 2026, 09:15–15:30 IST. |
| Timing circular for an already-dated session | The hours of a session whose date the annual circular has already fixed. | After the annual list, closer to the day itself. | NSE/CMTR/71775 names the Muhurat trading session for Diwali Laxmi Pujan on Sun, 8 Nov, 2026 and says the timing follows separately — quoted in full below. |
| Clearing-corporation settlement circular | Which settlements move because of the closures — a different document from the trading calendar. | Alongside or after the trading calendar. | NCL/CMPT/72278 — T+1 for Wed, 14 Jan, 2026 settles Fri, 16 Jan, 2026. |
Read down that table and the question changes shape. The annual circular is the biggest document, but only the first. Its list can be amended months later. Sessions can be added that it never mentioned. Settlement changes come in a different document. So even the annual circular is not the final word on 2027.
One line that shows the whole mechanism
The clearest example is a date the exchange has fixed while holding back its hours. The 2026 calendar carries this against the Muhurat trading session for Diwali Laxmi Pujan, word for word:
Muhurat Trading timings to be notified separately by NSE.
The date was published a year ahead, but the hours were not. A calendar that is only partly known is normal. The missing part comes in a later circular.
What appears on this page when the 2027 circular lands
Once the 2027 circular is published, this page will show the full year.
- Trading holidays by month — every weekday the capital market is shut in 2027, grouped by month. Each row carries the circular reference it came from.
- Special sessions — any session held outside Monday to Friday, with that circular's own hours rather than an assumed 09:15–15:30.
- Weekend dates of note — occasions the calendar names that fall on a Saturday or Sunday, kept separate because they cost no session.
- Settlement exceptions — trade dates whose settlement the clearing corporation has published as moving.
The same list also feeds the holiday list, is the market open today and the settlement date calculator. Until the 2027 circular is published, they cover only the published year.
How to know when it is here
- This page. The 2027 dates will appear at this same address:

NSE holidays 2027 — FAQ
Has NSE published the 2027 trading holiday list?
There is no 2027 NSE trading-holiday circular here yet, so this page lists no 2027 dates. The newest complete year here is 2026, from NSE/CMTR/71775. Every date on this site comes from an exchange circular. Check the NSE website for the newest circulars.
When does NSE usually publish the next year's holiday calendar?
There is no promised date. The 2026 list was dated 12 Dec 2025, about 20 days before 2026 began. If the timing repeats, the 2027 list may come around December 2026. One year is not a schedule. The exchange can publish earlier or later, and can change the list afterwards.
Can the 2027 NSE holidays be worked out from the 2026 list?
No, and the reason is structural. The list mixes occasions fixed to a Gregorian date with festivals set by the Hindu lunisolar calendar. It mixes in festivals set by the Islamic lunar calendar too. That calendar's twelve months run about 354 days, roughly eleven days shorter than a Gregorian year. That is why those dates move earlier each year. On top of that, the exchange chooses which occasions it observes. It can also add closures no calendar contains: NSE/CMTR/72260 added Municipal Corporation General Elections to the 2026 list after it was already out. No arithmetic gets you from one year's list to the next, which is exactly why it has to be looked up.
Is the stock market closed every Saturday and Sunday in 2027?
Saturdays and Sundays are the normal closure, and 2027 holds 52 Saturdays and 52 Sundays, leaving 261 weekdays. Treat it as the default rather than an absolute. NSE has run live weekend sessions, and NSE/CMTR/72349 covered the session on Sun, 1 Feb, 2026. A weekend date is only settled once the exchange has said so in writing.
Does a holiday that falls on a Sunday give an extra day off?
No. The exchange lists weekend-dated holidays separately from trading holidays. They remove no trading session, because the market is already shut that day. The 2026 calendar names 4 of them alongside its 16 weekday closures. It is also why two correct sources can give two different holiday counts for the same year. One is counting sessions lost. The other is counting occasions listed.
Will 2027 settlement dates appear on this page too?
Settlement is a separate document. The clearing corporation publishes which settlements move because of the closures. A trading-holiday circular on its own does not tell you when a trade settles. In 2026, NCL/CMPT/72278 moved the T+1 settlement of Wed, 14 Jan, 2026 to Fri, 16 Jan, 2026. Any published 2027 exception appears in the settlement section of this page. It also appears in the settlement-date calculator. That tool counts settlement days, so closures and settlement holidays do not count.
